On The Road 1

This is just a collection of pictures that I've taken on the road.

While waiting for a trailer assignment, I got to watch a tow-truck bring in this trailer. Apparently it was on a train and just collapsed. Of course it wasn't overloaded, and of course the train had nothing to do with it collapsing.

The driver had to run two chains from the tow arm, to the landing gear, and then back to the wheels to keep it from collapsing on the trip to the repair yard. Even the landing gear is pretty bent up.

While up near Green Bay, Wisconsin, my I saw something we had never seen before. A Wal-Mart Liquor Store.

This Oversize load got hung up on US169 in Northern Oklahoma. He was coming of a side road, possibly from a truckstop, and got his tires in a ditch. He's loaded with, I think, 85 Foot long blades for a wind generator.

The real problem is that since the tires were off the road, it caused the front of the trailer to bind up on the drive tires, thus preventing him from driving out.

This is a hole in my right side diesel tank. It was caused by a piece of 3/16" thick steel plate, about 14" square. I ran over this piece of steel thinking it was a new highway patch, but as I got right to it, I realized it was not. That gash is a little over 1/2" wide, and around 7" long. It caused me to dump nearly 80 gallons of Diesel fuel across the entire west-bound Interstate 70 Highway west of Limon, Colorado.

I had to wait two days for a replacement fuel tank, and could not leave until it was fixed.

This is about the only good picture I could get of this truck. It had Christmas lights all over it.
